Meet The Founder

  • Justine Carandang

    Occupational Therapist, CEO, and Founder

Justine is a pediatric occupational therapist who has been working with children and families for over a decade. She earned her undergraduate degree from Villanova University and graduate degree from University of Southern California, where she was awarded several scholarships and grants for her dedication to pediatric care and community service.

Her experience spans early intervention, school-based therapy, outpatient medical therapy, and nature-based summer camps for children with special needs. As an occupational therapist with Portland Public Schools, Justine collaborated with Portland State University to bring adapted rock climbing to her students—creating a fun, inclusive experience that supported motor skills, confidence, and a sense of adventure. Justine has supported campers in Oregon, Washington, and New York, where therapy was woven into nature-based experiences—blending outdoor play, sensory exploration, and group connection in calming, natural settings. These experiences continue to shape her belief that meaningful growth happens best when kids feel safe, supported, and free to explore.

Justine has also volunteered in international efforts serving children in Mexico, Ethiopia, Ghana, South Africa, Peru, and Honduras. These opportunities deepened her appreciation for cross-cultural connection and family-centered care. These experiences also strengthened her ability to adapt creatively, deliver meaningful outcomes with limited resources, and provide effective therapy across diverse environments.

She founded North Bay Spot to create a space where therapy feels connected to everyday life—grounded in relationships, play, and collaboration with families. Justine is a new mom, a nature lover, foodie, and a big believer in the power of play. Outside of work, she recharges through mountain biking, rock climbing, backpacking, and exploring new places with no set itinerary. At home, she finds joy in tending to her collection of air plants and succulents. Lately, she’s proudly attempting to become a pineapple guava plant mama.
